In this online course, you will receive a solid introduction to systematic occupational health and safety work, as well as the roles of the Safety Representative and the Working Environment Committee (AMU) representative. The course meets the authorities’ requirements for HSE training as a 40-hour course.
This course is designed to give you a basic introduction in accordance with legislation and is based on the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority’s guidance on the employer’s duty to undergo and facilitate training in health, environment, and safety work for safety representatives and AMU members.
Safety representatives must have sufficient knowledge and training to perform their duties in a responsible manner. It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure that the safety representative receives the necessary training through a safety representative course.
This course provides knowledge about current requirements, what characterizes good HSE, and how a safety representative can facilitate a targeted and systematic approach to implementing health, environment, and safety in the workplace.
As a general rule, the training for safety representatives should be at least 40 hours, but the parties may agree on a shorter training period if conditions allow and the risk level is limited. (Regulations on organization, management and employee participation §3-19)
This Safety Representative Course is an alternative to the traditional classroom-based 40-hour course.
An agreement must be written to document that the parties find it appropriate to choose an adapted safety representative course. A template for such an agreement can be downloaded on the next page – see the attachment button.
This must be completed along with a risk assessment (included in the same form as the adapted safety representative form) and kept by the company so that it can be presented to the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority during inspections. In the event of an inspection, a course certificate from us at HMS Kontoret will be valid proof that you have completed the mandatory training.
If no agreement is made for an adapted course, you are required to take the full 40-hour course.
This course is industry-specific for the Construction sector.
The sector includes the construction and repair of infrastructure.
